Taiwan Ceramic Journey is an exclusive 18-day artist-led experience designed for ceramic artists, collectors, and culturally curious travelers seeking a deeper connection with art and place.

Centered around the complete wood-firing process, participants will experience every stage of a traditional firing cycle—from kiln loading and preparation, to the sacred kiln sealing ceremony, and finally the highly anticipated kiln opening. Along the way, guests will engage in hands-on workshops, visit Taiwan’s renowned ceramic communities, and connect with master artisans who continue to preserve and innovate traditional craft.
Beyond ceramics, the journey explores Taiwan’s rich cultural landscape through Kintsugi, tea ceremony, historic architecture, local cuisine, hot springs, and breathtaking natural scenery. From the ceramic capital of Yingge and the streets of old Taipei to Sun Moon Lake, Kaohsiung Harbor, Taiwan’s East Coast, and the mountains of Yangmingshan, each destination offers a unique perspective on Taiwan’s artistic and cultural identity.
This small-group experience is intentionally designed to encourage meaningful exchange, creative inspiration, and lasting connections. Rather than rushing between attractions, participants are invited to slow down, immerse themselves in the creative process, and experience Taiwan through the eyes of a practicing artist.

Yingling Lin

Yingling Lin is a Taiwanese ceramic sculptor and educator based in Oakland, California. She graduates in Fine Art Sculpture from the Academy of Art University and is the founder of YoLin Art Studio. Yingling teaches ceramics and glaze technology at the Academy of Art University and has worked with artists and organizations including John Toki, Laguna Clay Company, and John Natsoulas Gallery. Her work explores themes of human connection, impermanence, and the relationship between people and the natural world through ceramic sculpture and installation.

Ah Leon (Chen Ching-Liang, 陳景亮)

Ah Leon is known as the “Father of Taiwanese Teapots.” He began his ceramic practice with traditional Yixing teapot techniques, building a strong foundation in precise craftsmanship. Since the late 1980s, his work has evolved into a unique trompe-l’œil style, transforming clay into lifelike wood, everyday objects, and sculptural teapot forms. His practice blends Taiwanese culture, Chinese ceramic philosophy, and contemporary sculpture, making him one of Taiwan’s most important ceramic artists.

Mai Chuan-Liang (麥傳亮) x Mai Chih-Tung (麥智通)

Mai Chuan-Liang (麥傳亮) and Mai Chih-Tung (麥智通) are pioneering Taiwanese ceramic artists and co-founders of Taiwan Min Kiln (台灣民窯). For over four decades, the brothers have dedicated themselves to preserving and promoting Taiwan’s ceramic culture through pottery, teaware, design, education, and community engagement. Their work combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovation, helping shape the development of modern Taiwanese ceramics and fostering a deeper appreciation for ceramic art and tea culture both in Taiwan and internationally.
